Police arrested two criminals that stole valuable items worth over N1.5m


Two members of a criminal gang who broke into a warehouse in the state's Yola Local Government Area and stole valuables worth over N1.5 million have been detained by Adamawa State Police Command agents.

On Saturday, September 17, 2022, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command's spokesperson, revealed this in a statement.

The PPRO reported that on September 17, 2022, at 3:00 a.m., "operatives of the command, led by Divisional Police Officer Jimeta while on Night patrol swiftly responded to distress call from Jambutu area and apprehended two suspects among syndicate of eight in connection with criminal conspiracy, house breaking by night, and theft."

"The accused, Mohammed Ismail, 18, of Jambutu-Asorock and Zira James, 22, of Jambutu-Yakore, local government area Yola North,

the following items were taken from a warehouse that was broken into at Banshika Street, Jambutu, Yola North local government area: 35 jerricans of Poweflo Oil, 3 cartons of breakfluid, 2 generator sets, 1 HP laptop computer, and other items valued at 1,000,000,500,000 Naira that belonged to Dizzy Oil Ltd.

The recovery of a Mercedes Benz with the registration number DKA 752 AG, which was used to transport the stolen goods taken from the warehouse, was made possible by the preliminary investigation, the source continued.

"The state commissioner of police, CP SK Akande, commends the divisional police officer, Jimeta, and his men for the achievements they have achieved while reiterating the command's readiness to promptly respond to public reports on the fight against crime and criminality in the state.

"The CP equally appreciate the Government and good People of Adamawa State for the continuous assistance and finally directed for an exhaustive inquiry and thorough prosecution," it reads.
