President Mohammadu Buhari arrives in Owerri for the project's debut
President Mohammadu Buhari has arrived at Owerri for Tuesday’s inauguration of some “signature projects” executed by Gov. Hope Uzodimma in his 32-month-old administration.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the president's plane landed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri at 10:46 a.m.
The governor welcomed the president and his entourage, who were accompanied by some top state government officials.
Some top security personnel and chieftains of the ruling - All progressives congress (APC) in the state and South-East zone were also present at the airport to greet the president.
The president inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Nigerian Armed Forces upon his arrival.
He was later treated to a cultural performance by the Imo State Council of Arts and Culture's Omenaimo Cultural Troupe.
Buhari is expected to inaugurate the reconstructed 35-km Orlu-Owerri dual carriageway and 48-km Owerri-Okigwe dual carriageway as well as the renovated House of Assembly complex, among other projects.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the president visited the state in 2021 and inaugurated some of the governor's projects.
